There’s just something super refreshing about an ice cold glass of lemonade on a hot day.
Spending my Saturday afternoon making lemonade wasn’t on my schedule when i woke up this morning but with a huge bag of fresh lemons i couldn’t think of a better thing to do.
I went over to my Nan’s place this morning to help her do some packing, she’s currently in the process of moving house, and she gave me a gigantic, and i mean absolutely huge, bag of lemons off her lemon tree.
She told me that they are called ‘lemonade lemons’ so i figured there was really only one thing that i could do with them… make LEMONADE!
The lemons are different to any lemon that I’ve had before. You can eat them like an orange!
They are not sour at all, its actually relatively strange but absolutely delicious.
I have a super simple, basic recipe for lemonade that can be ‘pimped out’ if you feel like mixing things up a bit.
Its basically just 3/4 cup of sugar, 3 cups of water and 1 cup of lemon juice.
To this you can swap out some of the water for soda water, sparkling water, or really anything with a little fizz if you feel the need.
You can decrease the sugar if it’s a bit sweet for you or ramp the sugar level up a bit if you’ve got some super sour lemons.
You can add in some oranges, limes, pomegranates, strawberries or whatever fruit you have laying around the house. This really adds an extra level of awesomeness to your lemonade!
The most important thing is to make sure you have a whole load of ice because lemonade just isn’t the same if its not ice cold.
A delicious and refreshing super simple homemade lemonade recipe.
Mix the sugar and boiling water in a jug stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Pour the sugar water, cold water and lemon juice into a large jug.
Add the ice cubes and lemon slices and serve.
